End of Summer in Solitude

We took a Labor Day Weekend trip to Solitude. Its on the back side of Park City and only 18 miles away if you take the back dirt road (Guardsman Pass) or 45 minutes if you go to SLC and back up Cottonwood Canyon.  We thought we would be adventurous and take the back way and it was beautiful. We spent three nights in Solitude and explored the Solitude, Brighton, Alta and Snowbird areas of Utah also known as the Cottonwood Canyons. There were even areas of snow patches still in September. I am breaking this trip up into three posts because we took soooo many pics!

First Morning with NEW Camera!

Cody surprised me with a new camera for my birthday! So my posts are going to get much longer as the months go on. I have already taken 800 photos this month, so much fun! Here are some test shots of a typical morning at our house. Bridget on the couch with her blanket and bear drinking milk, Clara having a bottle and then breakfast!

Beach Day at Jordanelle

The one thing (besides family and friends) that we miss about California is the beach! We usually take the girls every weekend in the summer and my parents live on the beach, so its one of our favorite things to do. We knew moving to UT it would be tough without a beach and we have missed it tons this summer. So our new "beach" is the lake edge at Jordanelle. Its about 15 min from our house and the sand isn't quite the same, but the girls still had a blast and so did Cody and I.

Trip down the Mtn to Wheeler Farm

We like exploring new things and since I am really into history and the girls love the farm we headed down the mountain to Salt Lake to check out historic Wheeler Farm.  We had a great time together seeing all the animals, riding the tractor, having a picnic lunch, exploring the old tree house and taking a tour of the historic farm house.

We arrived, snack break!

The cool house we toured (I loved this, the girls lost interest except for the kitchen and the kids room, but this was really for me!)

Dinner and Dessert Downtown

We headed downtown on a Sunday evening and took the girls to dinner and dessert. We tried a new restaurant and then went to our favorite ice cream shop, Java Cow.
